About Candice R. Shipp, APRN, MSN, WHNP-BC, IBCLC

  • Candice grew up in Chicago, IL and moved to San Antonio in 1995. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing, reading, drinking coffee, yoga, cooking, and spending time with her family andher dog, Duke. When asked about her favorite area spot, Candice says “Home"! I love being at home, especially when it’s hot!” She also enjoys driving through the Hill Country and taking in all of the beauty Central Texas has to offer.

I decided to pursue a career in nursing after the birth of my first child. My nurses were supportive and helpful and made me feel confident during that time when I felt vulnerable, influencing my decision to change career paths. I believe that holistic care is paramount, and I focus on all aspects of a patient’s well being and how their condition or reason for accessing health care will impact their physical, emotional, and social well being. I believe primary prevention is key in helping patients reach their healthcare goals and is essential in empowering them to live their best lives. My hope is that every patient I meet feels well cared for and supported through the provision of patient centered, evidence-based care and individualized health education.

My appointments are difficult due to my size and disability. The NP Candice Shipp did everything within her power to help me get the care I needed without making me feel humiliated. It was a frustrating experience but not due to the NP. It’s my personal issues that cause a Pap smear to be difficult. I appreciate the care and respect I was given.
