About
Sukanya Burugu, MD
-
Dr. Burugu grew up in Hyderabad, India, and moved to Austin in 1996 with her husband, who was working in high tech. In her free time, Dr. Burugu enjoys spending time with her family. She loves to cook and can cook for a big crowd “all by myself!” Among her favorite area locales is The Domain, shopping and eating at a favorite restaurant.
I chose medicine as a career thanks to my father’s wishes, as we had no doctors in the family, and he had multiple chronic medical conditions. Later, I was able to help him deal with his issues during the COVID pandemic through telemedicine, and when he was terminally ill. My faith led me to conclude that I was destined to be a doctor to help others in this world manage their health. I like to create a long-lasting relationship with my patients and focus on getting to know the whole person. I strongly believe in the importance of daily gratitude and how it can promote positive mental and physical health. I highly encourage a preventive approach to care and attempt to stop the illness before it ever starts.
