About Steven (Mike) M. Schmerber, Jr., MD

  • Dr. Schmerber is an ARC Family Medicine physician who sees patients at ARC clinics as needed.

Dr. Schmerber grew up in Cedar Park, TX, and is excited to be back in Central Texas. In his free time, he enjoys taking a dip in “cold, cold Barton Springs,” hyperventilating at the gym lifting weights, and enjoying his “nerdy side” playing chess or video games. And, he says, “perfecting a good bark on my brisket!” Among Dr. Schmerber’s favorite locales is Port Aransas, where he enjoys the sunset, listening to the waves crash and gulls cry, “smelling the fresh salty air and spicy dune grasses.”

I think I decided to be a doctor in 5th grade, as even from a young age I wanted to help people who were struggling. I have always enjoyed the comprehensive approach to a patient that Family Medicine allows. I view myself as a consultant to an individual’s health journey, and strive to give people the tools to get where they want to be with their health.

After spending most of my life feeling rushed through a doctor visit by the doctor themselves, Dr Schmerber not only took time with me and was very compassionate, but he made me feel like a priority. I have every intention of keeping the ARC as my primary provider based on my recent experience.

Dr. Schmerber is an excellent medical professional who cares for his patients deeply. I feel I have the best care after just one visit with him. He truly listens and guided me towards the best path for my wellbeing.
