About Jacqueline R. Karathra, MD

  • Dr. Karathra grew up in the beautiful city of Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada, then moved across the country to Hamilton, Ontario, for her residency. In her free time, Dr. Karathra enjoys getting outside and exploring Austin with her husband. She loves dancing, trying out new recipes, and hanging out with friends. She is also involved with her local church and youth ministry. Dr. Karathra also loves to travel, most recently visiting Portugal, Bosnia, and Peru.

I love being part of my patients’ lives and having the privilege of watching their families grow through different life stages. Family Medicine gives me the unique opportunity to get to know my patients well throughout their lives and learn about the unique circumstances that affect their health. I love being able to work together with patients to see the bigger picture of how we can optimize their health so they can more fully enjoy their lives. I believe less is more, and early prevention is key. Many health conditions can be improved with simple lifestyle modification, exercise, and medications when necessary. The patient-physician relationship is a partnership where my role is to advise, educate, and listen to my patient's concerns, and their role is to take active ownership of their health so we can work together to address health concerns.

It was my first time meeting my new Doctor. I like that she asked me questions and allowed me to ask questions. Also she spent time and didn’t seem rush. Hopefully this will be a start of a good patient and Doctor relationship. It is important to have the trust of good Doctor.

  • April 24, 2024

The visit itself was great but, again, the repeated rescheduling and the incorrect visit reason listed was very frustrating.

  • April 23, 2024

The wait time was not my favorite. (25 minutes) Everything else was excellent.

  • April 23, 2024

I enjoyed that I wasn’t kept in the waiting room very long. Granted, I was there on a Monday afternoon. I still appreciated how quickly my visit went and how attentive Dr. Karathra was to my questions. Thank you!
