About Shadi S. Mustafa, MD

  • Dr. Mustafa only sees patients for Same-Day illness and injury visits. Patients should always follow up with their primary care physician (PCP).

Dr. Mustafa was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In his free time, he loves working out, trying all kinds of cuisines, traveling, hiking, spending time with family, and “sleeping – because all of that is exhausting!” Although Dr. Mustafa is relatively new to Austin, he already loves the gardens around the city.

I wanted to be a physician since I was nine years old; I loved studying human anatomy, and loved science. I chose Family Medicine because I wanted to always be able to practice the full breadth of medicine. I believe in continuing to be a student of medicine, listening and learning from all those who are willing to teach and to practice, and help those who need it with no discrimination. My goal is to provide the best care I can to the best of my ability.

He was very knowledgeable about meds I had taken for allergic reaction I was experiencing. I had taken a Benadryl (a med I have used as an antihistamine for allergic reactions - spider bites, hornet and asp bites). He told me that Zyrtec was a better med to use at my age (84) because of fewer side effects. He added that tests on the use of Benadryl may contribute to the risk of dementia or possibly even Alzheimer's. I am thankful he shared that possible risk with me because I would like to remain in good health- both physical as well as mental.
