About Matthew A. Dwyer, DO

  • Dr. Dwyer grew up in Detroit, Michigan. In his free time, he enjoys going out for walks, binging a TV show, and cooking at home with his wife. He says, “eating delicious food is even better knowing you made it!” Among his favorite area locales is Mueller Lake Park in Austin around sunset, a beautiful spot to relax after a long day.

I always loved science growing up, and was always the person people turned to for help with a problem, so combining science and helping people led me to a career in medicine. I chose Rheumatology because that is where there is the largest unmet need in medicine, helping patients who struggle with rare diseases. Helping them improve their lives and empowering them with knowledge can really change their lives. Patient education is my top priority. Patients should understand why something is happening and what we will do together as a patient-doctor team to fix it. We have a conversation together about the disease or condition and what we will do to help give them their life back, and the patient now feels in control and empowered again about their future. And that makes it all worth it.

I was in, we covered what had been happening in the last three months. Was then sent to get lab work done. Was in and out in 20-25 minutes.

  • September 10, 2025

Dr. Dwyer was great. He was very sympathetic and understanding. Good listener too. I appreciated his help with my issue.

  • September 9, 2025

Everyone was friendly! The doctor listened to all my concerns and was thorough in the exam and follow up care plan.

  • September 3, 2025

While I was placed in a treatment room soon after arriving, I had to wait for the doctor for over 30 minutes before he got into the room. I do understand that they run late sometimes.
