I grew up in a family of doctors and nurses, and could see first-hand the beneficial impact they had in our community. Ultimately, they were my biggest role models and I knew from a very early age that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. I chose Orthopedics after being a young athlete and sustaining several musculoskeletal injuries of my own. I had always wanted to study muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, and their interaction with each other. While in Orthopedic residency, I was drawn to spine surgery due to the complex nature of the vertebrae, disc spaces, muscles, ligaments, spinal cord and spinal nerves, and pursued a fellowship for this field of expertise. I believe in treating every patient like they are a family member and providing my patients with a detailed explanation of their diagnosis and understanding sources of pain. Treatment recommendations are tailored to each individual patient. Non-operative management is emphasized as a first line treatment option, with surgical intervention recommended only after non-surgical options are unsuccessful.
