Request access to a child's or adult's ARC MyChart account

Caregiver (Proxy) access allows an individual to view another’s MyChart account. Child proxy access is available to parents and legal guardians of minors. Adult proxy access is available to another trusted adult.

How to request proxy access to a minor's record

Log in to your ARC MyChart account and follow the steps below.

  1. Click Your Menu, then click on Family Access & Personalize Your Record under the Sharing section.
  2. Click the Request access to a minor's record link if you are a parent or guardian. The Request to Access a Minor's Record request form will display.
  3. Fill out the form and click Submit Request. The request will be reviewed before access is granted.

When access is granted, the parent or guardian will receive a notification in their MyChart inbox.

If the parent or guardian is not an ARC patient, we ask that you complete the Child Caregiver/Proxy Form and return it to any clinic and present a valid photo ID to obtain access.

Effective September 1, 2025, Texas Senate Bill 1188 requires that health care providers give parents (and managing conservators or guardians) complete and unrestricted access to a minor's electronic health record immediately, unless access to all or part of the record is restricted under state or federal law or by a court order.
