September 25, 2025 update – Scheduling for COVID-19 vaccine appointments for ages 6 months+ is now available:

  • Medicaid Insurance: Ages 19 and under call 512-272-4636 (512-ARC-INFO). Availability differs for vaccines supplied by the state.
  • Other Insurance Plans: Ages 6 months+, schedule in ARC MyChart or call 512-272-4636 (512-ARC-INFO).

ARC offers COVID vaccines for new and established patients of all ages.

We recommend COVID vaccinations for:

  • Patients over the age of 65
  • Patients six months and older with an underlying health condition that puts them at higher risk for severe COVID
  • Patients ages 6-23 months, regardless of risk factors (per the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations)
  • Pregnant patients (per the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommendations)

If you are not in any of these high-risk groups, you can still benefit from the vaccine. We will provide information about the risks and benefits of the vaccine at your visit.

Beginning Friday, September 12: COVID-19 vaccines are available at ARC for ages 12 and up. For ages 11 and under, vaccines will arrive in the next 1-2 weeks.

As fall weather returns, the prevalence of viral illnesses rise, and new vaccines come out to fight the latest viral strains. That is true now for COVID-19 as well as flu, RSV, and pneumonia. With the help of a vaccine, you can reduce your risk of serious illness and help prevent the spread of viruses to your family and friends.

The 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine targets the LP.8.1 strain, which is currently circulating in the area.

The FDA has approved the 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine for use in individuals who are:

  • 65 years or older OR
  • 6 months to 64 years of age with at least one underlying condition that puts them at high risk for severe outcomes of COVID-19 disease

The CDC defines a qualifying health conditions and/or risk factor as one or more of the below:

  • Cancer
  • Cerebrovascular disease
  • Chronic kidney disease (at any stage)
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Chronic lung disease
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Dementia or other neurological conditions
  • Diabetes (type 1 or type 2)
  • Disabilities
  • Heart conditions
  • Hemoglobin blood disorders
  • HIV infection (human immunodeficiency virus)
  • Mental health conditions
  • Mood disorders including depression and schizophrenia spectrum disorders
  • Overweight or obesity
  • Physical inactivity
  • Pregnancy (current or recent)
  • Smoking (current or former)
  • Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant
  • Substance use disorders
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Other conditions that increase the risk of severe COVID-19

Talk to your doctor or advanced practice clinician (APC) for guidance on your need for a COVID vaccine. Anyone who elects to be vaccinated, will have the vaccine available to them.

If you do not have one of the qualifying health conditions listed above, you may be responsible for payment of the COVID vaccine. If you are concerned about coverage, please contact your insurance plan before scheduling your vaccine.
