- Founded in 1980 and still growing -
July 16, 2025 – Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) is celebrating 45 years of serving patients in Central Texas with primary and specialty health care.
Founded in 1980 by Norman Chenven, MD, a Family Medicine physician, ARC has grown from one clinic in Austin with three primary care physicians to 35 clinics in 15 Central Texas cities with 450 physicians and advanced practice clinicians. In fact, ARC provides health care for about one in four individuals throughout the region, including generations of families.
ARC continues its mission of providing accessible, reliable, and convenient health care, with attention to the cost of that care, by constantly expanding and upgrading patient communications, technological advances, clinical research, specialties, and services.
As the Central Texas region expands and grows, ARC does as well. Two ARC specialty clinics with on-site outpatient surgery centers will open in 2025-2026, first in Round Rock and then in South Austin, with a new clinic in Lockhart planned for 2026.
Even as ARC grows, clinicians and staff remain the heart of the organization, many with over 25 years of service. ARC is proud to be recognized as one of the largest private companies in the region, and a Best Place To Work both locally and nationally.
