Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

Austin Regional Clinic is using artificial intelligence technology (AI) to increase the quality and efficiency of healthcare services provided by our physicians and other healthcare providers. This may include preparing notes and reports about healthcare services provided, evaluating or diagnosing conditions, and identifying treatment options. However, AI is not used to replace the clinical expertise and judgment of our physicians and other healthcare providers in delivering care to our patients.

As of January 1, 2026, Austin Regional Clinic is using the following AI tools in patient care settings:

  • Creating Documentation. Temporary recordings of patient visits are used with speech-to-text technology to create notes and other reports summarizing the visit. Speech-to-text technology is also used to generate letters and other documents regarding patient care. All recordings are deleted shortly after the documentation is finalized, and remain fully protected by HIPAA.
  • Summarizing Test Results. Protocols developed by ARC are used to classify routine lab results and generate patient-friendly summaries of the results, including recommended actions (if any). Summaries are reviewed by the treating physician or other healthcare provider.
  • Reference Sources. Many reference sources used by physicians and other healthcare providers use AI features to enable faster searches and summaries of relevant information that may be helpful in evaluating and treating specific medical conditions.

We also use AI in non-patient care settings to help with administrative tasks, such as scheduling, sending reminders, insurance paperwork and billing.
