Tuesday, July 4, is Independence Day

"Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity" – Herbert Hoover

Tuesday, we celebrate Independence Day, the 247th anniversary of the declaration of America's independence and one of the most important dates in world history. We celebrate America – our freedom, our liberty, our independence. On this day in 1776, American colonists declared their right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." The declaration was a call to action then and remains so today. Liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and justice for all is not just a phrase; it is a reminder of what we can accomplish when we respect one another and work together to achieve our common goals.

We have much to celebrate this July 4th, even in these challenging and complicated times. Take a moment to reflect on what makes America great, what we share, and how each one of us can be our best self as a citizen and compatriot.

We want to especially thank our physicians, coworkers, and staff who are on call on Tuesday in After Hours Clinics, Norman MD, ARC IT, Central Registration, and other areas. They remain on duty to serve our patients and the Central Texas community. Thank you.

Independence Day is a uniquely American holiday worthy of celebration, and we hope that you will all enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe Fourth of July.
