CHF Screening at ARC Liberty Hill on June 29

Free teen heart screenings at ARC Liberty Hill

Championship Hearts Foundation (CHF) will provide a free teen heart screening at ARC Liberty Hill on Saturday, June 29. The screening is for all athletes, band members, spirit groups, and students ages 14-18.

Why get screened?

CHF estimates that 1 in 500 students are at risk of having hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a serious heart condition that is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes. CHF provides screenings for HCM since it rarely has any identifiable symptoms.

Anyone who participates in strenuous activities is encouraged to get their heart screened for possible deadly genetic heart conditions.

What's involved?

Athletes who attend will receive:

  • a blood pressure exam
  • non-invasive echocardiograms (ECG)
  • a limited 2-D Echocardiogram (ECHO)

Endorsed by the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and provided by volunteer local cardiologists and ARC clinical support staff.

Data collected from the CHF goes towards research into identifying certain risk factors that can lead to heart conditions.
