Jay R. Zdunek, DO, MBA, has been named Chief Medical Officer for Austin Regional Clinic (ARC). Dr. Zdunek succeeds Russ Krienke, MD, who has held the position since 1992.

Dr. Zdunek joined ARC in January, 2015, as Senior Medical Director, and was named Associate Chief Medical Officer in 2017. Prior to joining ARC, Dr. Zdunek served as Chairman of the Heritage Valley Medical Group, a multispecialty group in western Pennsylvania, and has over 30 years' experience as a practicing physician in addition to leadership.

As CMO, Dr. Zdunek is responsible for managing and providing leadership to the more than 300 ARC physicians and clinic providers, peer review/quality measurements, and helping recruit new physicians. He is also part of the senior management team for strategic decision-making, and represents ARC to other medical groups in the community, region, and nation. Dr. Zdunek will continue his practice as a Family Medicine physician at ARC Far West.

Dr. Krienke joined ARC in 1981, and is one of the group's longest-serving physicians. He has held several leadership positions, including Chair of the ARC Executive Board and as a Board Member of Covenant Management Systems, an Austin-based third party administration and medical management organization. He will continue his Family Medicine practice at ARC South 1st.

"Dr. Zdunek understands health care, patients, and our clinics," said Anas Daghestani, MD, ARC CEO and President, "and is a worthy successor to Dr. Krienke. He has been and will continue to be a strong leader for ARC's market growth and our reputation as a high-quality multispecialty medical group."
