We are pleased to announce that McKenna A. Williamson, DO, Obstetrics/Gynecology (Ob/Gyn), has joined the team at ARC South Ob/Gyn. ARC Obstetrics/Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) doctors are primary care physicians who focus on women's health issues including, pregnancy, fertility, birth control, mammograms, menopause, std testing, ultrasounds, and more.
"I chose to become an ob/gyn because of the unique opportunity to develop a long-term partnership with my patients and to care for them during all stages of their lives," says Dr. Williamson. "Whether it be regulating menstrual cycles, helping women expand their families, or assisting with the menopausal transition; I feel honored to be able to treat, empower, and educate. I enjoy going to work every day!"
Listening to patient concerns and goals
"I care for my patients as I would want my own family members to be cared for," says Dr. Williamson. "I believe a medical provider should truly listen to their patient's concerns, understand their values, and individualize their care." She continues, "I strive for patient autonomy, shared decision making and establishing trust. I understand that each patient has a unique set of concerns and goals, and that no treatment option is right for everyone. I believe it is also important to educate patients regarding their health and empower them to so that they may play an active role in their own care."
When asked for her health tip for patients, Dr. Williamson said, "One of the most important tips I share with women is to be open with your healthcare provider and to ask questions. Female sexual and reproductive health is a uniquely intimate aspect of our overall wellbeing, but just as important!" In her free time, Dr. Williamson says, "I'm currently exploring my new city! I love trying new restaurants and breweries; and have a pretty hefty bucket list for Austin."
