Friday, July 4, celebrates our nation's 249th birthday, the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776.
Once again, we remember the words of the Declaration, that all people have a right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." July 4 is a day that affirms fundamental values—freedom, collective identity, equality—and a reminder of what we can accomplish as a nation.
This day is a time to reflect on and take pride in our rich American history and values, remembering that we hold the power to shape our nation's future. The independence we enjoy today comes at a cost, and we continue to fight for it, defend it, and earn it as we work toward a more perfect union.
We especially thank all our physicians, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), coworkers, and staff who are working Friday and through the weekend in After Hours Clinics, NormanMD, IT, Central Registration, and other areas. They give their time off to keep our patients and the Central Texas community healthy. Thank you.
On this uniquely American holiday, let us honor the past and celebrate the present as citizens who appreciate and value our hard-fought freedoms.
However you celebrate, enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe Independence Day!
