Honoring the fallen on Memorial Day

Cemetery with American flags in front of every memorial stone, signifying Memorial Day

Monday, May 26, is Memorial Day, one of America's most cherished patriotic observances, a day to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, at home and abroad. On this federal holiday, we honor and reflect on, with gratitude, the service men and women who have died defending our country for over 150 years.

Not just on Memorial Day, but almost every day, we are reminded of the great sacrifices that those who serve in the armed services continue to make as they defend us across the globe. Today and every day, remember the true price of freedom and the debt we can never repay. The fallen will always live in our memories and inspire us to live with gratitude and compassion.

Fortunately for most of us, Memorial Day is a respite from work. At ARC, we continue with our commitment to after hours call coverage that has provided access to care for our community for 45 years. We sincerely appreciate all of our ARC physicians, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), and staff working this weekend, including After Hours, IT, NormanMD, Central Registration, and many others.

Pause for a moment of quiet reflection at 3:00pm Monday, the National Moment of Remembrance, when all Americans, alone or with family and friends, are asked to take time to think about and honor those who died in service to the United States. This memorial observance represents a simple and unifying way to commemorate our history and honor the struggle to protect our freedoms.

We are forever grateful to those who selflessly served and died for our country. May their courage and dedication never be forgotten.
