About
Jessica L. Darnutzer, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
-
Jessica Darnutzer is a native Texan, raised in Texarkana. When she is not at work, she enjoys impromptu kitchen dance parties with her two small daughters, “banging away on my baby grand piano,” Ballet Austin performances with her husband, tap-dancing lessons, and “chipping away at the ever-growing pile of novels on my bedside table!” Her favorite Central Texas locale is, naturally, the Long Center, watching Ballet Austin.
Learn more about Advanced Practice Nurses.
Being a nurse is a heritable trait in my family, going back to my great-grandmother in the 1920s. I began my career working as a nurse’s aide at age 19, which confirmed to me that the bedside is where I belong. It is an incredible honor and privilege to work with people during times of uncertainty in their lives. I believe in meeting each patient where they are, and caring for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. As a nurse practitioner, I aim to connect with patients and to partner with them to achieve their goals of what health means to them.

Treadmill Stress Testing
A treadmill test helps a doctor determine how well your heart handles work. As your body works harder during the test, it requires more oxygen, so the heart must pump more blood. The test can show if the blood supply is reduced in the arteries that supply the heart. It also helps doctors know the kind and level of exercise appropriate for a patient.
