About Regina A. Koshy, MD

  • When she is not working, Dr. Koshy enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. They love taking their kids to local parks and listening to live music. She also enjoys traveling, running, swimming, exploring the local food scene, and playing the piano. Dr. Koshy grew up in Houston, and has lived all over Texas since then, but says, “I like Austin best!” Her favorite local spot is Lady Bird Lake, because “it is a peaceful getaway in the middle of the city.”

I wanted to pursue medicine because the profession studies and applies what is universal to all people – science and humanity. Because a person’s health can play a critical role in the making of a person’s life story, I want to know both of my patients’ stories – their health, and their life. The two stories are indelibly intertwined, and learning the whole story helps in solving a patient’s problem. Cardiology captivates me because the specialty relies on both the latest advancements in science, as well as the old, human tools of a good physical exam and history to improve the quality of patients’ lives. I work closely with my patients to achieve the best possible cardiovascular health possible.

The test can show if the blood supply is reduced in the arteries that supply the heart. It also helps doctors know the kind and level of exercise appropriate for a patient.
