ARC welcomes Kelly L. Coleman, APRN-CNS

Kelly L. Coleman, APRN-CNS, ENT Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are happy to welcome Kelly L. Coleman, APRN-CNS, ENT, to the team at ARC South 1st Specialty & Pediatrics and ARC Far West Medical Tower.

Kelly is now scheduling appointments for clinic visits.

ARC Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) providers focus on health conditions of the head and neck, including the ears, nose, throat, sinuses, and voice box. They treat sinusitis, snoring, hearing loss, dizziness, sleep apnea, and other conditions.

"I use a holistic approach to address the needs and wellness of the whole person," says Kelly, adding that she helps to address all types of sleep and wakefulness problems. Kelly says, "A good night's sleep is so important to every aspect of our lives. Sleep impacts our emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being and is the truest un-sung hero of our health and wellness."

Turn down the volume on anxious thoughts

Kelly offers this tip to her patients who struggle with sleep, "If you awaken in the early morning hours with racing/anxious thoughts and cannot get back to sleep, pick a large number (like 565) and subtract by 7's. Doing this math problem engages the brain's frontal lobe and can ‘turn down the volume' of anxious thoughts and emotions that are keeping you from getting back to sleep."

In addition to being an APRN-CNS, Kelly is a clinical herbalist working with native Texas healing plants. In her free time, she says, "I have a medicine garden at my home in South Austin. I often can be found in the woods wildcrafting plants, in the kitchen making medicines, or reading about healing arts and traditions."
