Taking your child to the doctor when he or she is healthy is just as important as taking your child to the doctor when he or she is ill. A well-check exam, also known as a well-care, well-baby, or well-child visit focuses on maintaining your child’s health and is a time to discuss preventive care. These exams are available to patients from kindergarten through 12th grade. Request an appointment onlinevia MyChart, or by calling your clinic.

Well-check visits are routine visits to the child's doctor for the following reasons:
  • Physical examinations
  • Immunization updates
  • Tracking growth and development
  • Finding any problems before they become serious
  • Information on health and safety issues
  • Information on nutrition and physical fitness
  • Information on how to manage emergencies and illnesses
Your child's doctor can also provide guidance on other issues, such as the following:
  • Behavioral problems
  • Learning problems
  • Emotional problems
  • Family problems
  • Socialization problems
  • Puberty and concerns about teenage years

Please be aware that your health insurance may not consider discussion of additional diagnoses or significant problems as part of your child’s well-check exam, which will focus primarily on preventive treatment. Discussing additional issues or symptoms of another medical condition in a preventive well-check exam can create a new visit fee and may result in additional charges or additional co-pay depending on your health insurance plan. For more information, please see our preventive visit policy. Questions about your benefits should be directed to your insurance plan or your employer’s Human Resources department
