Pediatric ASD Diagnosis
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. As of now there is a guide created by the American Psychiatric Association to help healthcare professionals diagnose ASD. This test is performed in a secondary care setting and can take several hours to administrate. However, ASD can still be difficult to diagnose since there’s no defined test such as a blood test.
The purpose of this opportunity is to develop a device to aid healthcare providers in the diagnosis of ASD. We are looking for children without an autism diagnosis, that either you or your healthcare provider have a concern for a developmental delay or on the spectrum. If successful, this device could possibly advance the timing of an autism diagnosis, so behavioral intervention can begin earlier in life. Earlier intervention in ASD has been shown to have significant positive impacts on a child’s development.
