High-Tech, Patient Check-In Options
November 05, 2014
We see or use kiosks everyday, whether you’re picking up groceries at HEB, visiting the post office, or stopping at the local pharmacy. Today, it is the standard for checking in at the airport—appreciated from airline staff and passengers for the way it streamlines registration. Yet, the medical world has rarely adapted this technology.
Patients at Austin Regional Clinics’ three newest locations—ARC Wilson Parke in the Four Points region, ARC Summit in Round Rock and ARC Leander—now have a new way to check in, make payments and/or update their personal information. It’s called the ‘Welcome’ Kiosk.
In addition to the kiosk, patients at these locations are greeted by a Concierge, a specially trained Patient Services Coordinator to help navigate patients as they enter the clinic.
Together, these features offer an enhanced experience for individuals and families, namely, faster and easier registration and the option to check and update their own demographic information.
Why Kiosks? Patients want choice. For simple check-ins where there are no insurance changes, the kiosk offers patients a convenient option. For those patients who have questions or updates or simply prefer speaking to a staff member, the front desk is ready and available to help.
Check out the kiosk technology on KVUE-TV (ABC).
