Why Get A Colonoscopy?

Colon cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death from cancer. It affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most often found in older folks. Dr. Lilah MansourGastroenterologist at ARC Far West Medical Tower shared these facts and more in this recent podcast.

She also shared this good news, “colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers.” Dr. Mansour encourages all people to get a screening colonoscopy after the age of 50; 45 for African Americans. She says, “A screening colonoscopy prevents colon cancer by finding and removing polyps that can grow into cancer; and finds colon cancer early when treatment can be more effective.”

If you would like to make an appointment with Dr. Mansour to discuss scheduling your colonoscopy, you can do so online or by calling 512-346-8888.
