We have miles to go in preventive medicine

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Durreshahwar K. Khan, MD, Internal Medicine, has joined the team at ARC Quarry Lake.

“When I was in school, I wanted to be an astronaut!” Dr. Khan tells us. “But, in college I had this wonderful Biology professor who made me rethink my career choices; I was really drawn to human physiology and pathology, so I changed my mind!”

Taking care of the entire machine

Dr. Khan describes her approach to practicing medicine, saying, “I believe in a holistic approach; I don’t believe in treating just the problem.” She adds, “The human body is a miraculous machine and I believe that we can’t just treat it in part! We have to look at the entire machine and take care of it.”

“I am a big believer of preventive medicine and truly believe that we have miles to go on this avenue here,” says Dr. Khan. She adds that although she has many health tips that she shares with patients, her top tip is, “Drink more water, you can’t drink enough!”

In her free time, Dr. Khan enjoys playing with her daughter, reading, nature walks with my family and food! Her favorite local spot is Lady Bird Lake. “I love the lake, the beautiful city around it, and all the hustle and bustle around it. It’s a great spot to relax, rewind, and enjoy!”
