Treating the Whole Patient

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Jerry D. Vandel, MD, Internal Medicine, has joined the team at ARC Far West.

Dr. Vandel describes what drew him to Internal Medicine, saying “I chose Internal Medicine because it combines my interest in a wide range of medical conditions with a desire to provide personalized care to my patients.”

When discussing his philosophy of patient care and interaction, Dr. Vandel says, “I believe in listening carefully to patients, taking the time needed to fully evaluate and treat the whole patient.”

Collaboration is Key in Treatment

Dr. Vandel adds “I think collaboration with patients is important in their treatment.”

“I strongly encourage patients to exercise regularly,” says Dr. Vandel. “This can help with many health issues.”

Dr. Vandel grew up in Houston, but visited family in Austin frequently. He says, “I always wanted to return to live here.” Before beginning his career, Dr. Vandel spent time in the Indian Health Service in Crownpoint, NM, part of the Navajo Reservation. In his free time, Dr. Vandel likes to get out and about in Austin and Central Texas, saying, “I enjoy running regularly on the Hike & Bike Trail, traveling, and trying new restaurants.” His favorite area locales are Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock.
