This family doctor strives to be a partner in health and a family friend

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Amanda E. Schultz MD, Family Medicine physician, has joined the team at our newest clinic in Kyle, ARC Center Street.
Dr. Schultz describes why she chose Family Medicine as a specialty, saying, “What I love about Family Medicine is that it is a harkening back to what medicine used to be--the traditional “country doctor” who you could call directly for any member of your family.” She continues, “We pride ourselves in being both a partner in health as well as a family friend. We value accessibility, transparency, and being present when our patients need us. When I saw Family docs practicing by these principles in medical school, I knew I had found my calling.”
Of her approach to patient care, Dr. Schultz says, “I approach my patients as I would approach any member of my own family. I care for them deeply, and I establish easy and transparent working relationships with them. I’m prepared to aid in any capacity I can, whether it be advocating for them in a confusing healthcare system or just being a shoulder to cry (or laugh!) on during life changes.”
Drink your water
Dr. Schultz has special interest in many areas of Family Medicine, including mood and anxiety disorders. She adds, “I also enjoy providing women’s healthcare (annual exams, birth control) as well as newborn care.”
When discussing health tips, Dr. Schultz says, “One of the most common reasons for chronic fatigue is chronic dehydration.” She advises, “Your weight in kilograms is how many ounces of water you should be drinking PER DAY to optimally maintain all of your bodily functions. Who knew water could be such potent medicine?”
“My husband and I love exploring new foods and craft beers,” says. Dr. Schultz. She says that she also loves cats, movies, coffee, and quilting, in no particular order!
