Prevention through Collaborative Decision-Making
January 24, 2019
ARC is happy to announce that Noreen Valla, MD, Family Medicine physician, will begin practice at ARC Kelly Lane on February 18. Dr. Valla is seeing patients at ARC Round Rock and ARC Sendero Springs prior to the opening of ARC Kelly Lane.
Dr. Valla was born in Tanzania, grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is now happy to call Austin her home! Dr. Valla says she became a physician because "I was drawn to medicine early on during a childhood visit to my birthplace, Tanzania, when I had the opportunity to volunteer at a dispensary.”
She adds, “What I love most about being a family physician is having the opportunity to build relationships with my patients and their families over the course of their lives.”
Collaborative Decision Making
Dr. Valla explains that her philosophy of practice is all about prevention and working together. She says, “My focus starts with prevention – educating and screening before the onset of disease processes, through a collaborative decision-making process with my patients.”
“I am passionate about educating on healthy lifestyle choices, such as diet, exercise, and stress management, which can help prevent, and sometimes reverse, major chronic diseases,” adds Dr. Valla.
In her free time, Dr. Valla says, “I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the outdoors.” Her favorite locales are Austin’s Lady Bird Lake and Auditorium Shores.
As for her favorite health tip, Dr. Valla says to “focus on the simple changes that you can make in your daily routine that can have lasting effects on your overall health. For example, start by drinking more water throughout the day and eliminating late-night meals.“
