Personalizing care to meet each patient’s unique needs

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Shao-Chun Rose Chang-Jackson, MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has joined the team at ARC Center Street.

“I first became interested in women’s health after my first-grade teacher developed ovarian cancer,” says Dr. Chang-Jackson. “Due to her strong will and her physicians’ dedication to treating her illness, she was able to survive an unheard-of amount of time with her diagnosis. I knew from that experience that I wanted to be able to treat all of my female patients with as much care and compassion as she received from her physicians.”

Dr. Chang-Jackson says, “I believe that every patient’s healthcare needs are unique, and I strive to personalize their care. Every patient deserves to be empowered to make informed decisions about her health care. I believe strongly in the practice of evidence-based medicine and offering the full spectrum of surgical options, tailored specifically to the patient. I will partner with her to arrive at the best treatment option available.”

Dr. Chang-Jackson’s special interests include the minimally invasive treatment of complex gynecologic conditions such as severe endometriosis, large uterine fibroids, and pelvic adhesive disease.

“Menstrual cycle irregularity/changes should be evaluated, regardless of the age at which it occurs,” says Dr. Chang-Jackson. “Many women disregard their symptoms, chalking them up to the “norm”, without knowing that the pathology behind the condition can be very treatable.”

In her free time, Dr. Chang-Jackson says she enjoys “Running, cooking, spending as much time as I can outdoors with my husband and chasing after my three young children.”
