New Year, new exercise program
February 11, 2020
Have you recently started a new workout for the New Year? Dr. Ross E. Hairgrove, Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine physician at ARC Kyle Plum Creek, ARC South 1st Specialty and Pediatrics, and ARC Southwest, shared some tips on starting a new activity safely to listeners of the ARC Healthcare Minute on KLBJ-AM.
Dr. Hairgrove says, “If you are starting a new sport like pickleball, rock climbing, or training for your first marathon – my advice, start slowly.” He explains, saying, “Whatever the activity, start slowly, and gradually increase the intensity, frequency, and duration. And, listen to your body. Don't ignore chronic aches and pains, or they could turn into injuries that require medical care."
