Making Connections with Patients
June 20, 2019
Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Laura Goodell, MD, Family Medicine physician, has joined the team at ARC South 1st! Dr. Goodell, a native Texan, says she was drawn to medicine for a very “standard” reason—to help people! She elaborates, saying, “I like feeling a true connection with my patients as I help them with their medical issues.”
Regarding her philosophy of patient care, Dr. Goodell says, “Whether I am seeing a patient with a splinter, chest pain, or a simple cold, I know that their issue is important to them and that they are seeing me so I can try to help them feel better.”
Find the Fun in Exercise
Dr. Goodell enjoys cooking, family-time, and exercise in her free time. She says, “As a wife and mom of four, I like to find new healthy recipes to cook for my family. I find fun ways to exercise - walking outside in the sunshine with my friends, running the neighborhood trails with my dog, lifting at the gym to really loud music, tap dancing, or going to yoga class.”
A long-time Austinite, Dr. Goodell cites Lady Bird Lake among her favorite Central Texas spots. She says, “My favorite place still is Lady Bird Lake, ever since it was called Town Lake.”
Dr. Goodell’s best health tip? “Walk with your family, and every day try to sleep 8 hours and meditate for 10 minutes!”
