Make Small Changes for a Healthier Lifestyle

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Kay L. Nelson, MDFamily Medicine physician, has joined the teams at ARC Pflugerville and ARC Sendero Springs. Now happily residing in Austin, Dr. Nelson is what you might call a citizen of the world. She says, “My father was in the Air Force so we grew up all over the world.”

Dr. Nelson became a physician because of the desire to be a kinder, gentler doctor. She says, “I went into medicine because I had a negative experience with a physician once, and I knew I could use my communication skills and natural empathy for people to provide a gentler experience for my patients.”

Her philosophy of practice is all about partnership. Dr. Nelson says, “My philosophy towards medicine is to use my education and general knowledge of medicine to partner with my patients and help them navigate through the options on their health-care journey.”

Small Steps

“My healthcare tip is instead of making sudden, drastic and ultimately unsustainable lifestyle changes, make gradual, consistent small changes and build towards a sustainable healthier lifestyle,” says Dr. Nelson.

“When I am not at work, I enjoy reading, spending time in natural surroundings and playing with my grandchildren.” Dr. Nelson adds, “My favorite central Texas spot is Zilker Park and Hanover’s in Pflugerville to see my brother’s band, Skyrocket!”

To make an appointment with Dr. Nelson, go online, or call ARC Pflugerville at 512-989-2680 or ARC Sendero Springs at 737-220-7500.
