“Perimenopause can last 2 to 10 years, and can begin between the ages of 45 to 55,” said Dr. Guy V. Blumhagen, Gynecologist at ARC Seton Northwest. Perimenopause, explained Dr. Blumhagen, is defined as the early signs of menopause.
In this recent podcast of the ARC Healthcare Minute, Dr. Blumhagen discussed some of the symptoms of perimenopause. He said, “The most common symptoms are hot flashes, night sweats, dryness, and irregular periods.”
