Good care starts with open communication

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Amanda V. Soza MD, Pediatrician, has joined the team at our newest clinic in Kyle, ARC Center Street.

“I chose to be a doctor because I wanted to be able to help people and have a lasting impact on their lives,” says Dr. Soza. She explains, saying, “I still remember some of the things my Pediatrician advised me to do. Wanting to have that kind of lasting effect, I felt pediatrics was the best specialty for me.”

When discussing her philosophy of practice, Dr. Soza says, “I feel that open and honest communication while keeping education of both the child and parents at heart leads to the best care.”

Childhood obesity

One of the areas that Dr. Soza specializes in is childhood obesity. She says, “With the growing numbers of obese children, I do hope to obtain board certification in obesity medicine once my schedule allows and to offer support and education about that epidemic along the way.”

“Kids love juice, and I can’t blame them, but it has a lot of sugar and unnecessary calories that add up very quickly,” says Dr. Soza. “When I have concerns about increasing weight gain, juice intake is often the first place I look.”

In her free time, Dr. Soza says she enjoys playing with her senior dog, Ruby, trying new food, and salsa dancing. As far as favorite central Texas locales go, this Fulshear, Texas native says, “I am still relatively new to Austin, but Lake Travis is absolutely beautiful, and I have very fond memories of floating the Frio River and camping at Garner State Park.”
