Creating a life-long relationship with patients
September 14, 2020
Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Victoria Chen, DO, Family Medicine, has joined the team at ARC Quarry Lake. Dr. Chen says she chose family medicine, “Because it allows me to create a life-long relationship with my patients and to grow alongside my patients.” She says she enjoys seeing whole families together, saying, “Although it can be quite chaotic, it gives me a fuller picture of my patient’s daily life and their social interactions. We can tackle issues together in order to promote a healthier lifestyle.”
“I am a firm believer that the physician-patient relationship is a two-way street,” says Dr. Chen. “I am here to listen, teach, give recommendations, and would like to walk alongside you in your health journey.” She adds, “However, it is up to you to take ownership of your health and take the steps necessary to gain back the control of a well-balanced life.”
Patients from all walks of life
“I enjoy taking care of patients from all walks of life,” says Dr. Chen, “But I have a special place in my heart for adolescents with mental illnesses. Their development is so important during this time and often cannot control the social environment and stressors in their life.”
Dr. Chen often gives this health tip to her patients, “Remember to take care of yourself—physically, mentally, spiritually. Everything is related to your well-being. Drink water. Eat healthy. Rest well. Move your body. Laugh freely. Connect deeply. Find purpose. Enjoy life!”
In her free time, Dr. Chen says she enjoys, “Rock climbing in the gym, reading at a coffee shop, or hanging out with friends in their homes.” She is also involved in her local church and enjoys reaching out to college students, nursing home residents, and the children’s ministry.
