Austin Regional Clinic honors physician with award

December 17, 2015 - Austin Regional Clinic honored one of its Family Medicine physicians at its bi-annual Shareholders Meeting on Tuesday, December 8.

Dr. Mark Ambler,  Family Medicine physician at ARC Southwest, was the recipient of the Dr. Larry Kravitz Award for Outstanding Service to ARC and the Community.

The award, presented by ARC Executive Board Member Alison Ziari, MD, recognizes exceptional service and leadership to both the organization and to the communities ARC serves, and beyond into the global community. 

Dr. Ambler, an ARC physician since 2001, was honored for his leadership of his fellow Family Medicine colleagues as well as all the ARC providers and staff, and for his longtime volunteer service at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic (VHC) in Austin. VHC provides primary health care and prevention education to the medically un-and-underinsured in our community.

As a volunteer since 2006, Dr. Ambler has served the VHC in many capacities, including its Monday night Chronic Disease Management program and the Tuesday-and-Thursday night walk-in clinics. He helped create a patient education piece on Diabetes, helped facilitate a group visit with diabetic patients, and served as a physician champion on the VHC’s committee working with the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Dr. Ambler has served ARC as a co-Chief of the Family Medicine Department, and a co-Chief/Family Medicine of ARC After Hours Clinics, all the while keeping a busy practice and leading by example in giving time to patients, peers, and staff.
