Austin Regional Clinic Founding CEO, Dr. Norman Chenven, receives AAFP honor

Dr. Norman H. Chenven, ARC Founding CEO, has received the 2017 Robert Graham Family Physician Executive Award , from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). The award is one of the organization’s highest honors.
The award recognizes Dr. Chenven as “ …a passionate, visionary executive whose leadership skills are inspiring, spanning nearly four decades of service as CEO of Austin Regional Clinic.”
The Robert Graham Family Physician Executive Award is reserved for AAFP members whose executive skills in health care organizations have contributed to excellence in the provision of high quality health care, and who have demonstrated that family physicians can have an impact on improving the overall health of the nation.
In notifying Dr. Chenven of his award, Dr. John S. Meigs, Jr., AAFP President, said: “You have been highly effective in increasing health care quality and access, always guided by your dedication to serving the best interest of patients. Helping people live well has been not only Austin Regional Clinic’s purpose, but also your personal mission. You are known among your colleagues as a generous collaborator and a tireless champion for innovations in health care and medical education. You have truly made a difference in your community and beyond, and you have set a high standard as a family physician leader.”
Dr. Chenven accepted his award at the 2017 AAFP Congress of Delegates in San Antonio on September 12.
