ARC Founding CEO Dr. Norman H. Chenven honored

Lifetime achievements recognized by two groups

November 28, 2016 – Norman H. Chenven, MD, Founding CEO of Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) recently received two significant honors from his peers, recognizing his more than three decades of service to the medical community and the health of Central Texans.

The Travis County Medical Society (TCMS) has named Dr. Chenven “TCMS Physician of the Year,” featuring him on the cover of the November/December TCMS Journal. Dr. Chenven will be formally recognized at the TCMS Annual Dinner on December 13.

The Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) named Dr. Chenven 2016 Physician Emeritus during the organization’s 2016 Annual Session Primary Care Summit in Dallas on November 5. Each year, patients and physicians nominate extraordinary long-serving physicians and panel of TAFP members chooses one to distinguish as Physician Emeritus. Dr. Chenven accepted the recognition at the TAFP dinner on November 5.

“His dedication to Austin Regional Clinic helped expand the network from primary care to include other specialties while continuing to strive for excellence,” said TAFP. He also continues to make his mark by holding various positions on numerous committees and task forces both locally and nationally to ensure the voices of primary care physicians are heard, said the organization.

In 2015, Dr. Chenven and ARC celebrated 35 years of serving the Central Texas community. Under his leadership, ARC has grown from three physicians in 1980 to over 350 in 2016, with primary and specialty care clinics in three Central Texas counties. Dr. Chenven continues to serve as CEO and President of Covenant Management Systems, ARC’s parent company, and on numerous local, state and national boards and committees, providing input, direction, and leadership to the organizations.
