This Family Doctor Offers “Hands-On” Care
February 20, 2018
“Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment or OMT is hands-on care offered by a doctor of osteopathic medicine or DO, who use their hands to diagnose and treat illness and injury,” says Barbara M. Kiersz, DO, Family Medicine physician at ARC Far West speaking on a recent episode of the ARC Healthcare Minute. Dr. Kiersz elaborates, “With OMT, a DO uses stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance to move your muscles and joints.”
Dr. Kiersz adds, “OMT is often used to treat muscle pain like lower back pain or pre- and post-partum pain. It can also help patients with asthma, nasal congestion, migraines, ringing in the ears, dizziness, and carpal tunnel syndrome.”
