Talk About Any Problem, There Is No Judgement, Says Ob/Gyn
October 24, 2018
Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Leah Tatum loves helping patients with health questions “that you wouldn’t talk to your friends about.” Adding that “there is no judgement whatsoever. This is a place where you should feel free to share.” Watch her video to learn more about how she creates a safe space for your health care at ARC Seton Northwest.
Talking About Women’s Health
Dr. Tatum believes that women face a lot of health problems that they don't talk about that frequently.
The goal for Dr. Tatum is to encourage you to “share things with me that [you] haven't told other people.”
She adds, there's a lot of misinformation out there.
“With all the information available on the internet, I want patients to feel comfortable saying ‘I looked this up and what do you think about this?’” Dr. Tatum said. She can then address your concerns and lift the burden of worry.
For first-time moms, she advises patients to ask any and all questions that you have.
“Ask silly questions,” Dr. Tatum said. “If you have any concerns, any questions, if you're worried about using [certain products], feel free to ask your obstetrician about those things.”
Then you will have the information you need to make decisions that will help you and baby thrive.
New Moms Feeling Overwhelmed
Pregnancy and then childbirth can be a special time for a new mom. When caring for a new baby becomes overwhelming, Dr. Tatum advises moms to “remember to also take care of yourself too.”
“You need to be your best self to be able to care for this new life,” Dr. Tatum said.
