Taking time to connect is important for kids and their families
September 19, 2016
Pediatrician Marjan A. Linnell, MD, has joined the Pediatric team at ARC Kyle Plum Creek. Dr. Linnell says the hope and joy in children’s hearts is “really special to me,” and she enjoys seeing this every day as a pediatrician, while making sure they are growing up to be healthy, happy adults.
Dr. Linnell believes that the most important part of caring for a patient “is taking the knowledge I’ve gained in my training, and tailoring that to the patient and their family.” She believes that the best care is evidenced-based, individualized care that a family is comfortable with and truly understands. She is also passionate about the subject of childhood obesity and serves on the Texas Pediatric Society’s Obesity Committee.
Born in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, Dr. Linnell and her family moved to Austin when she was six years old. In her leisure time, Dr. Linnell can be found outside with her husband, toddler and dogs. She also enjoys being in the kitchen, since she “absolutely loves to cook,” but says “I’m a terrible baker!” Growing up in Austin, she especially loves Zilker Park and Barton Springs, and now she enjoys weekend train rides on the Zilker Zephyr with her son.
As for health tips, Dr. Linnell says “Sitting down to dinner as a family can definitely be hard these days, but it is so important – sharing a healthy meal and taking time to connect is good for growing bodies and minds, and their parents, too.”
Dr. Linnell is accepting new patients at ARC Kyle Plum Creek. Call 512-295-1333 or go online to make an appointment. Welcome Dr. Marjan Linnell!
