Taking a Journey Toward Health, Together

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Tera C. Brooks, MDFamily Medicine physician, has joined the team at ARC Kyle Plum Creek. Dr. Brooks grew up in Austin, with a brief detour in Albuquerque, NM. She says, “I went to elementary school and 7th and 8th grade in Austin, high school in New Mexico and then moved back to Texas to go to Texas A&M and Medical School at Texas Tech.”

Dr. Brooks says that being a doctor was always her plan. She says, “Being a doctor has always been my dream, and I never really had a plan B.” Of Family Medicine, she says, “I started off loving Emergency Medicine, but during my three years as a General Practitioner for the Army, I grew to love Family Medicine. I loved getting to know my patients and seeing them progress to better health.“

Taking a Journey Together

Dr. Brooks shares her approach to practicing medicine, “My philosophy is caring for a patient is a journey you take together and it is important to make sure both you and the patient know and agree on the route of care and treatment.”

In her free time, Dr. Brooks enjoys family time, cooking, and reading. She has also started a new hobby—running. Dr. Brooks says, “I have never been much of a runner, but I wanted a challenge and have signed up for my first 5K in November which is exciting!”

When asked for a health tip, Dr. Brooks says, “I believe that education about health and preventive medicine is key.”
