Preventive Care Should Start in Childhood

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Rebecca Kim, MD, FAAP, Pediatrician, has joined the team at ARC Kyle Plum Creek. Born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Kim talks about why she enjoys being a pediatrician. “Being involved in the lives of children and their families is a privilege,” she says, adding, “It is a pleasure to watch the unfolding growth of children and see the particularities of each one’s personality and character.”
Dr. Kim says her approach to pediatrics is family-based. She says, “I like to form a collaborative relationship with families and provide support so that they are active, empowered participants in their child’s medical care.”
When not at work, Dr. Kim enjoys various activities. She says, “I enjoy drawing and painting and am an aspiring violinist and yogi. I like taking my dog, Sherman, outdoors to our favorite trails and being in the contemplative presence of my cat, Madeleine.”
Dr. Kim is a believer of preventive care. She says, “The basics in preventive care are important, including routine immunizations and visits, good nutrition, exercise and physical activity, safety, and a nurturing stimulating environment for learning.”
