Plantar Fasciitis - Causes and Treatment

If you wake in the morning with heel pain, you might be suffering from a condition called plantar fasciitis, says Dr. Daniel T. HalloranPodiatrist at ARC Cedar Park Medical Plaza. In this recent podcast of the ARC Healthcare Minute, Dr. Halloran discusses both the causes and treatment of plantar fasciitis.

Dr. Halloran says, “This condition is caused by a strain of the band of tissue that extends from the heel to the toe called the plantar fascia. With this condition, the pain is worse when you get up in the morning or after sitting for long periods.”

Treatment can vary, depending on the severity of the problem. But Dr. Halloran says, “Heel pain can be debilitating and worsen with time, making walking difficult, even impossible.”
