Get a Head Start on Allergies
September 25, 2017
Living in Austin means living with allergies. Allergic rhinitis, or hay fever, is a common condition that causes symptoms many of us are very familiar with, such as sneezing, stuffy, itchy or runny nose, watery eyes, and itching on the roof of the mouth. Dr. Colleen Adkins, Allergy and Asthma specialist at ARC Wilson Parke, ARC Round Rock, and ARC Cedar Park Medical Plaza, says “Here in Austin, many people suffer from allergies due to the year round prevalence of pollen.”
In this recent ARC Healthcare Minute podcast, Dr. Adkins advises all allergy sufferers to “start your allergy medications a few weeks before the pollen season starts to help prevent or reduce symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis.”In other words, know your allergies and when they are active.
