From the ER to Primary Care
April 18, 2016
New ARC Nurse Practitioner, Courtney Helman, says time spent as an emergency room nurse inspired her to pursue primary care as a specialty.
“The number of patient visits that could have been prevented with adequate primary care services shocked me,” said Helman about her time in the ER. “I saw firsthand the detrimental impact that a lack of basic health care can have on individuals and their loved ones.”
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Helman aims to develop lasting relationships with patients and to make a positive impact in the health and lives of others.
Born and raised in Austin, TX, Helman can be found keeping up with her favorite football team during the fall (Hook ‘em!), running the hike-and-bike trail or driving out to Elgin for a horseback riding lesson.
A health tip she often extends to patients and families: Spend time outdoors everyday. It’s therapeutic.
