Everyone Has an Important Story

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Emily A. Nyman, NP, has joined the Obstetrics and Gynecology team at ARC South OB. Nyman, a nurse practitioner, says “I come from a family with healthcare roots so going into nursing was an easy decision.” Nyman continues, “Going into Ob/Gyn turned out to be an even easier decision; the first time I saw a delivery in student clinical I knew that I wanted to start my career in labor and delivery.”

Nyman says her approach to patient care involves balance and participation. She says, “I believe that a balanced and holistic approach is the most effective way to maintain health throughout the lifespan. Patients should be encouraged to be active participants in their health and with the help of new technology can bring a lot to the table when it comes to developing a plan of care.” She adds, “I believe that everyone has a unique and important story and I am looking forward to creating life-long relationships with my patients.”

Understanding Means Empowerment

When asked for her go-to health tip, Nyman says “Staying healthy means asking questions and being open with your provider about any issues you are having even if they are difficult to bring up or feel uncomfortable.”  She adds, “The more you understand about your body and health the more empowered you are to take care of yourself.”

In her free time, Nyman enjoys nature and food! She says, “On days off I enjoy exploring the greenbelt and try to keep up with all of the great new restaurants that Austin has to offer. I also take any chance I can get to road trip to west Texas and beyond with my partner and dog.”
