Connecting With Your Little Ones as They Grow
July 18, 2016
“I chose a career in pediatrics because it’s all about the relationships,” says Dr. Knema Rezaei Bazazizad (Rezaei), pediatrician at ARC Southwest. “I had the opportunity early in my training to take care of a baby in the newborn nursery, and I was fortunate enough to have the family come and see me for all the check ups for that baby in the clinic too.”
As the child grew, Dr. Rezaei was able to connect with the family and baby.
“I really got to share the joy of watching that child grow, develop, and make all of those critical milestones,” Dr. Rezaei says.
His connection with you as your child grows from newborn to toddler and beyond, is the reason Dr. Rezaei practices medicine.
“Those are the relationships that really stick with you,” says Dr. Rezaei.
An Early, Healthy Start
In his practice, Dr. Rezaei’s focus is prevention.
“The childhood years are a critical time to intervene and develop habits that [children and teens] can carry with them into adulthood.” Dr. Rezaei says. He discusses healthy eating and exercise with families.
“Eat the rainbow, different colors of fruit and vegetables and all the different food groups on everybody’s plate, every meal,” Dr. Rezaei says. “For exercise, have a goal of at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.”
ARC MyChart is a patient portal that is designed to make it easier for you to understand and manage your family’s health. It provides personalized, secure on-line access to portions of your family’s medical records. As parents, it allows you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your child’s health. Dr. Rezaei recommends MyChart to all of his patients.
“ARC MyChart is a great feature,” Dr. Rezaei says. “It allows us to communicate directly with families about non-urgent issues. It’s a great tool and it makes scheduling and communication a lot easier. I even use it for my own care here at ARC.”
