Listen to the patient

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Jeffrey W. Champ, MD, Family Medicine, has joined the team at ARC Southwest.

Dr. Champ says he originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but chose medical school instead, as “the science of medicine fascinates me.”  He enjoys family medicine for the opportunity to develop relationships with patients and their families, and being one of the first providers in the healthcare chain for a given problem.

Listen to the patient

When asked about his philosophy of care, Dr. Champ says one of the most important things in taking care of patients is “to listen, to allow the patient to fully express a problem and feel like they have been truly cared for.”  He also believes in practicing efficient and cost-effective medicine without sacrificing the quality of care.

Activity is key

Dr. Champ grew up in a suburb south of Jacksonville, Florida. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys exploring the many trails and parks in the Austin area, and camping in state parks with his fiancée and yellow lab. He also likes to cook, especially “ethnically diverse meals from scratch,” and play video games in addition to watching high-quality television and movies.  And Dr. Champ loves “all the food trucks as well as the food truck parks.”

“One of the single best things all people can do for their health is to increase their activity,” said Dr. Champ when asked for a health tip.  He and the American Heart Association recommend at least 2.5 hours of moderate intense activity, spread out over the week, “and five hours is even better,” in helping reduce the risks of heart attack and stroke, among other benefits.

Dr. Champ welcomes new and established patients to his practice for either in-clinic or telemedicine visits.  For appointments, go online or call 512-282-8967.

Welcome to Austin Regional Clinic, Dr. Champ!
