Hernia Repair Options

Have you been diagnosed with a hernia? Or do you just suspect you might have one? Dr. Joseph E. Garcia, General Surgeon, ARC Far West Medical Tower and ARC Southwest, says that “A hernia occurs when part of an internal organ or tissue bulges through a weak spot in the abdominal wall.”

A hernia can cause pain or a bulge in the affected area; it can also have no symptoms. Regardless of symptoms, “The only way to permanently fix a hernia is to surgically repair the holes,” says Dr. Garcia.

In this recent ARC Healthcare Minute, Dr. Garcia discusses a surgical option for hernia sufferers that can often result in less pain - the da Vinci® surgical system. This robotic surgery system provides a magnified view and dexterous tools “beyond the capabilities of the human hand.”

If you want to learn more about treatment options for a hernia, contact Dr. Garcia at one of his two convenient locations below or make an appointment online.
